Peanut high yield management skills

Since 2010, Zhongde has been dedicated to researching ways to improve peanut yield and efficiency. Farmers and fertilizer manufacturers have long faced challenges such as soil acidification, compaction, empty shells, and sticky grains. To address these issues, Zhongde has developed a practical management plan that is now shared with farmers to help them achieve better results. **Pre-Planting Management** Soil Preparation: Before planting, it's essential to deeply till the soil to a depth of 30–35 cm instead of using a shallow rotary tiller (about 15 cm). Apply 10 kg of soil conditioner and 25–50 kg of organic fertilizer per mu before plowing to improve soil structure and fertility. Seed Treatment: Dry the peanut seeds on the ground for 1–2 days (not on concrete) to enhance germination quality. Treat the seeds with Kepke and Kangpu molybdenum before planting to boost emergence rate and uniformity, laying a solid foundation for high yields. **Fertilizer Selection** When applying seed fertilizer, choose formulas rich in nitrogen and potassium, such as Zhongde Peanut Special Fertilizer (13-15-12 with boron and organic matter) or 16-12-14. Apply 50–75 kg per mu. For additional support, use European Agri Entek (12-11-18) at 35–50 kg per mu. This helps avoid burning while promoting healthy growth. To prevent empty shells, apply 200–400 grams of boron per mu. Depending on the soil type, choose chlorine-based or sulfur-based fertilizers to optimize nutrient availability. **Daily Management** Sowing Requirements: Plant large peanuts at a depth of 5 cm when the average daily temperature stabilizes above 14°C. Small peanuts should be planted when temperatures are above 12°C. In the Ludong area, the best time for spring sowing is between April 25 and May 10. For Luzhong, Lunan, and Luxi areas, the ideal window is from April 20 to May 5. The soil moisture should be around 70–75%, allowing the topsoil to form a clump but remain loose. If not, irrigation may be needed to protect seedlings. Seedling Care: After emergence, break the seed coat gently, allow air circulation, and check for weak plants. Use Lion Horse Green diluted 800 times and Kepuke diluted 500 times to strengthen seedlings and promote root and leaf development. Mid-Season Management: During flowering and pod formation (fruit needle stage), perform ridge-making and water according to soil moisture. Control pests like cotton bollworms and leaf spot by spraying Kangpu Liquid Boron at 1500 times and Lion Blue at 1000 times. This improves pollination and increases fruit set. Keep the plant height under 35 cm to maintain balance. Pre-Harvest Care: During the fruit-filling stage, spray Lion Horse Red at 1000 times or Sander’s Instant Potassium at 500 times to reduce sticky grains and increase yield. Adjust watering and drainage based on soil conditions. Harvesting Guidelines: Harvest when the main stem has 3–4 leaves, and over 70% of the pods are hardened with clear netting and brown inner shells. Dry the pods immediately after harvest to reduce moisture content below 8% within a week. At harvest time, collect any remaining plastic film to keep the field clean and prevent environmental contamination. Zhongde hopes that peanut farmers will make informed fertilizer choices and implement proper management practices in 2013 to achieve higher yields during harvest. With the right techniques and attention to detail, successful peanut farming is within reach.
