Traction machine installation

Installation Steps

When installing the traction machine, it's essential to ensure proper alignment and stability. The process begins by preparing a reinforced concrete base if the load-bearing beam is located beneath the machine room floor. This base should be approximately 30 mm larger than the traction machine’s chassis and have a thickness of 250–300 mm. During the casting of the base, bolts for securing the traction machine must be embedded in advance. A damping rubber pad should be placed on top of the load-bearing beam before the traction machine is mounted onto the concrete base. To further secure the installation, a pressure plate and baffle are used to fasten the machine to the base.

If the load-bearing beam is above the floor, the steel base of the traction machine can be connected directly to the beam using bolts. For vibration control, a vibration-damping system should be installed. This involves creating two steel plates with a thickness of around 20 mm, matching the size of the traction machine’s base. A damping rubber pad is placed between the two plates. The upper plate is bolted to the traction machine, while the lower one is welded to the load-bearing beam. To prevent movement, a pressure plate and baffle plate are also added between the upper plate and the machine chassis, as illustrated in Figure 1-43.

In cases where the load-bearing beam is positioned on a reinforced concrete platform that is 600 mm above the machine room floor, a baffle plate and vibration-damping rubber pad should be placed on the platform. Upper and lower connecting steel plates are then installed. The traction machine is fixed onto the steel plate and properly aligned using a pressure plate and baffle.

To adjust the position of the traction wheel, a horizontal lead wire is first fixed above the traction machine. Two vertical lines are then dropped from this wire to the center points of the car frame and the counterweight on the floor. By calculating based on the center of the traction rope, the diameter of the wheel is measured, and another vertical line is hung from the horizontal wire. Using these reference lines, the traction machine is precisely calibrated.

Technical Requirements for Installation:

(1) Traction wheel position deviation: The front-to-back (toward the counterweight) direction should not exceed ±2 mm, and the left-to-right direction should not exceed ±1 mm.

(2) Traction wheel lead traverse error should not be more than 2.0 mm.

(3) The parallelism error between the traction sheave and guide wheel or rewinding wheel should not exceed ±1 mm.
