Water-air alternating quenching application example

Large-diameter alloy steel components are subjected to quenching and tempering, with water-air alternating quenching being used instead of traditional oil quenching. This method is not only environmentally friendly, but also significantly reduces production costs. Additionally, the microstructure and mechanical properties of the parts produced using this technique are superior to those achieved through oil quenching.

1. Part Introduction

A critical component in our company's product line is the 0A21074 half-shaft, made from 42CrMo alloy steel. The technical specifications require a quenching and tempering treatment, resulting in a hardness range of 269–321 HBW. The structural details of the part are illustrated in Figure 1, showcasing its complex geometry and high precision requirements.
