Gerbera Care Tips:

Gerberas thrive in warm and humid conditions, with an ideal growth temperature between 20°C and 25°C. If the temperature exceeds 30°C or drops below 10°C, they may enter a semi-dormant state. They require plenty of sunlight and are slightly cold-resistant, making them suitable for winter cultivation in southern regions of the Yangtze River. Therefore, ensure your Gerberas receive adequate sunlight when planting.

Gerberas can be propagated through seeds, vegetative cuttings, or tissue culture. After soaking the seeds, sow them at 20–25°C, where germination typically takes 10–14 days. Once the cotyledons appear, transplant the seedlings when they have 2–3 true leaves. For vegetative propagation, after 4–5 months, cuttings with 2–4 leaves can be used. A suitable potting mix consists of 4 parts humus soil, 3 parts garden soil, 2 parts compost, and 1 part sand.

Before planting, add slow-release fertilizer to the bottom of the pot. When planting, make sure the roots and stem base are exposed. About 10 days after planting, begin applying a diluted liquid fertilizer. Half a month later, use cake fertilizer water. Apply a phosphate fertilizer before flowering, and stop fertilizing during the summer. For potted Gerberas, apply a balanced NPK fertilizer (20:20:20) every 10–15 days. As the plant grows, you can remove older or yellowing leaves to promote healthy growth.

Common issues include leaf spot and root rot. To treat these, spray with 70% methyl thiophanate diluted to 800 times or 80% ethephosphorus solution diluted to 400 times. Alternatively, you can water the plants with the same solutions. Regular monitoring and proper care will help keep your Gerberas healthy and blooming beautifully.
