Ground Resistance Tester Common Faults

Grounding resistance tester is a commonly used instrument for measuring grounding resistance. It is also an indispensable tool for acceptance inspection of electrical safety inspection and grounding projects. However, there are often minor problems. Common ground fault resistance tester troubleshooting methods are as follows:

Common fault 1: Check the battery voltage is normal and the grounding resistance measurement is not accurate, the error is large and inaccurate.

Fault reason: This fault is usually caused by the detection signal filtering and the failure of the regulation circuit. The most common cause is the damage of the filter inductor T1.

Remedy: Replace the T1 inductor and fix it immediately.

Common fault 2: Check that the battery voltage is normal, but the ground resistance measurement cannot be performed.

Cause of the fault: This fault may be due to a fault in the switching power supply, AC/DC conversion, and constant current output.

Remedy: Measure the C port with a frequency meter. Without 820Hz AC output, you can gradually check the part of the circuit, from the output transformer, switch, oscillation circuit to find the fault part, replace the new parts can be repaired.

Common fault 3: When the ground resistance tester is used to measure the measurement data, the data is floating, and it is not accurate on time.

Fault reason: This phenomenon "KYORITSU4102A" earth fault resistance tester is usually no fault, the problem is caused by the bad connection between the resistance meter and the earth pile (auxiliary electrode) and the grounding body under test. There are three disconnection wires or loose joints. Causes poor electrical conductivity. If it is found during use that the wire is disconnected from the joint metal plates at both ends, it must be re-welded with solder to ensure proper measurement of the ground resistance tester.

Common fault 4: The head of the grounding resistance tester does not move, or the battery pointer and the grounding resistance tester do not move when measuring the meter head.

Cause of the fault: It may be caused by burnout of the meter header or disconnection of the connection header and the circuit board. This is also due to the excessive vibration of the ground resistance tester during use or transportation.

Remedy: First open the head panel, hand toggle pointer, such as the pointer can not automatically return to zero, indicating that the header has been bad; otherwise it is necessary to weld the header, with a multimeter resistance gauge measurement header, if it is open, It shows that the meter has been burned out. Then use the multimeter's current and voltage to measure the original connection header connector and press the earth resistance meter to check the voltage button. If the multimeter has a voltage indication, it indicates that only the earth resistance tester's fault is caused by the header damage. After replacing the new header, you can repair it. If the header is intact, then open the grounding resistance tester housing and check the header connection. If it is disconnected, it can be done.
