Technology Xing'an: no longer let security supervision sing a one-man show
On February 27, the Technical Committee of the State Administration of Safety Supervision was officially established. This move reflects a deep recognition by national safety authorities of the importance of science and technology in ensuring safety. It also challenges the traditional belief that security is solely the result of management and enforcement, offering a solid foundation for advancing technical safety measures.
People often say that science and technology are the primary productive forces. In my view, they are also the cornerstone of business safety. First, advanced technologies can optimize production processes and reduce the likelihood of accidents. Many past incidents were caused by outdated production methods, which led to frequent calls for process improvements. Second, the use of technological tools can enhance the professional skills of workers, contributing to safer operations and minimizing errors.
However, there is still a long way to go in fully integrating technology into safety practices. First, we need to raise awareness among safety regulators and business leaders about the role of technology. Although the idea that "technology is the primary productive force" has been around for years, many companies still treat it as just a slogan, lacking real implementation due to factors like limited investment, poor understanding, or insufficient support. To change this, we must enhance the technical awareness of both regulators and enterprise managers, encouraging them to invest in talent and resources for technological advancement.
Second, we should strengthen the institutional framework for technology. Historically, safety inspection teams focused on theoretical knowledge but lacked clear standards for technical expertise. While inspectors may identify issues, they often lack the skills to resolve them effectively. This leads to a situation where inspections focus only on identifying problems without providing meaningful solutions. Therefore, technical proficiency should be a key criterion in evaluating safety personnel.
Finally, we need to establish a research and development platform for technology. Daily safety supervision exposes many issues faced by enterprises, creating an ideal opportunity to address them. However, due to limitations in both function and technical capability, some problems are overlooked. By providing safety staff with R&D platforms and supportive policies, we can better prepare for future challenges. At the same time, enterprise managers should be shown how science and technology can drive development and ensure long-term safety through practical examples and guidance.
