If you follow the adjustment procedure of the testing machine and other related instruments, it is essential to perform regular calibration. 1. Open the instrument panel and click on "Image Power." Adjust the initial resistance by setting 100Ω for the termination condition of the first circuit, while short-circuiting the rest of the input cycles.
2. Adjust the resistance setting to 157.31Ω using W1. This will allow a 20mA output. Then, adjust the potential for the 4mA output using W11. Repeat this process until the readings fall within the acceptable accuracy range.
3. Use a standard square resistor to set the outputs at 20mA and 4mA. This will serve as the second loop. Adjust the next two settings to match the second meter (W22), and fine-tune the zero potentiometer (W21). Make sure all other circuits are short-circuited during this step.
Calibrating the test machine in this way makes it static, but it meets the needs of most transmitters in practical applications. Dynamic verification is rare, and most calibrations are done using the laser method, which is typically reserved for special requirements.
