Working performance and characteristics of Q47H/F-16P/C hard seal ball valve
Fixed ball valves represent a modern and high-performance solution designed for long-distance and industrial pipeline systems. These valves are specifically engineered to handle both corrosive and non-corrosive media under harsh conditions, offering superior strength, safety, and reliability. Unlike traditional floating ball valves, the fixed ball design ensures that the ball remains stationary during operation. This prevents excessive pressure from being applied directly to the valve seat, resulting in lower operating torque, minimal seat deformation, and consistent sealing performance over time. As a result, fixed ball valves are ideal for high-pressure and large-diameter applications.
Each fixed ball valve is equipped with an advanced spring-loaded pre-sealing assembly that provides self-tightening capabilities for upstream sealing. The valve features dual seats that allow bidirectional sealing, meaning there is no flow restriction during installation. Typically, these valves are installed horizontally to ensure optimal performance.
The valve body comes in two-piece or three-piece configurations, with the middle flange secured using bolts. The sealing mechanism utilizes reinforced PTFE embedded within a stainless steel ring, while a spring at the rear of the ring ensures proper contact between the seat and the ball. The upper and lower stem bearings are made without PTFE, reducing friction and improving operational efficiency. Additionally, there is no adjustment piece at the bottom of the stem, ensuring the ball and sealing ring remain properly aligned.
Fixed ball valves feature a full-bore design, where the flow passage matches the internal diameter of the pipeline, making them suitable for easy cleaning. They can handle a wide range of media, including water, gas, oil, natural gas, and acidic or alkaline corrosive substances. The operating temperature range extends from -196°C to 350°C, and they can be operated manually, via worm gear, pneumatic, electric, or hydraulic actuators.
Key features of fixed ball valves include:
1. **Low Operating Effort**: Supported by upper and lower bearings, the ball experiences reduced friction, minimizing torque and ensuring smooth operation even under high-pressure conditions.
2. **Reliable Sealing Performance**: A PTFE sealing ring is embedded in the stainless steel seat, with a spring providing constant pre-load force. Even if the seal wears over time, the spring maintains effective sealing.
3. **Fire-Resistant Design**: In case of fire or sudden heat exposure, a secondary metal-to-metal seal is activated, preventing leaks and enhancing safety. This design complies with API 6FA and API 607 standards.
4. **Automatic Pressure Relief**: When internal pressure exceeds the spring's preload, the valve seat retracts, releasing pressure automatically. After relief, the seat returns to its original position.
5. **Drainage System**: Drain ports on both sides of the valve body allow for checking seat leakage, releasing pressure during maintenance, and reducing contamination from the medium.
Fixed ball valves are widely used in industries such as food, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, natural gas, steel, environmental protection, and papermaking. They can also be cleaned by injecting appropriate lubricants or cleaning agents into the system, ensuring long-term performance and reliability.
