This sticking can lead to pitting, scratches, and other surface defects on the extruded aluminum profiles, significantly affecting their overall quality and appearance. To address these issues, appropriate surface strengthening treatments have become one of the most effective ways to enhance die performance and extend its service life. One of the earliest techniques used for this purpose is gas nitriding. However, this method has several drawbacks, including long processing times and the formation of a brittle nitrided layer, which limits its effectiveness in improving the durability of aluminum extrusion dies.
